TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The City of Terre Haute and the Vigo County Fairgrounds underwent major cleanups this Saturday.
Volunteers arrived to participate in the city wide annual spring clean up to remove various of large and small objects in the city’s most needed areas.
Another cleanup was held over at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. The project involved painting, weed pulling, and other maintenance in preparation for the upcoming fair.
Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett and Jen Hamilton, Vigo County Fair and Events Coordinator, both said they just want the community to look better.
“We get as much as we can, see the dumpsters behind me, we’ll fill all these up it’s usually somewhere between 25-30 pounds,” said Mayor Bennett. “We’re just trying to get caught up and get ready for the fair so everything looks great for our sponsors and families to come and enjoy,” Hamilton concluded.
Bennett and Hamilton expect their respective clean ups to be more than just a one day job.
