Two people from Colorado are behind bars in a local jail, after a traffic violation led police to finding a large amount of drugs in their car.
At around 2:30 Friday afternoon, an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70 in Putnam County. The vehicle was traveling 57 mph in a 70 mph zone, a violation of the Left Lane Law or the “Slowpoke Law.”
During the traffic stop, the trooper noticed several signs of possible criminal activity within the vehicle. This prompted the trooper to search the vehicle. That’s where he found 11 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $33,000. He also found cannabis powder, twelve controlled substance pills, and one gram of meth.
The occupants of the vehicle, 30-year-old Daniel Wade and 25-year-old Veronica McClam of Colorado, were arrested and transported to the Putnam County Jail. They each face multiple charges of possession of drugs.
