Paul K. Baxendale IV, 21, of Clinton was given a series of field sobriety tests to which he failed after being pulled over Monday afternoon on SR 63. His arrest came after the Sheriff’s Department received reports of a vehicle spotted crossing the center line.
Alcohol was ruled out and Baxendale was transported to Union Hospital in Clinton where he consented to lab work. Baxendale was arrested on charges of: “operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance” after results came back. While inventorying the vehicle Baxendale was driving, a foil package containing suspected Heroin and Fentanyl, 2 syringes, and other paraphernalia was located.
Baxendale is being held at the Vermillion County Jail on $10,000 bond and a mandated 12 hour hold.
