CLAY Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Clay County YMCA partnered with Duke Energy and Vectren Saturday for their annual food giveaway.
Hundreds of volunteers met to put together 911 bags of food together for children who receive free and reduced lunch and might be in need during their two week holiday break.
According to Nicole Fry, Clay County YMCA executive branch director, they will be able to provide food for nearly 400 families.
“Christmas time is stressful anyways because we want to make the best for our children. We’re helping to eliminate that stress, so they can focus on what that time is really about,” said Fry.
The YMCA has been feeding children in Clay County for six years and this is their fourth year partnering with Duke Energy.
The partnership with Duke Energy helped them giveaway $40,000 worth of non-perishable food items.
