Clark County IL reports first COVID-19 case in county resident

There are now 645 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Indiana, according to the latest ISDH data.

CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – A woman in her 60s from Clark County, Ill., has tested positive for coronavirus, according to health officials there.

The Clark County Health Department was notified of the positive test Monday.

“The individual is thought to be exposed to the novel virus through recent travel out of state,” according to a news release from Cathy Hayden, Clark County public health administrator. “The patient required hospitalization and has been in self quarantine out of state.”

The county health department is looking into who has been in close contact with the patient prior to diagnosis.

Cases in Illinois topped 5,000 on Monday and 73 people have died from the virus. Meanwhile, Indiana reported 272 new cases Monday.

One new case of COVID-19 was reported in Sullivan County, Ind. on Monday, bringing the total number of cases there to two.
