Civilians locate suspect who fled from authorities

PARKE CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A multi-county police pursuit Sunday ended when civilians located the suspect and held him until authorities arrived, according to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.

James D. Allen, 32, of Covington, Ind., led Indiana State Police on a chase through Parke and Fountain Counties that ended in near 5316 W. Bowsher Rd. when Allen excited his vehicle and fled from authorities

Several police officers and K-9 units searched the area, but eventually the search was suspended.

Later that afternoon, area homeowners notified the Parke County Sheriff’s Department that they had located Allen and were holding him until deputies could arrive.

Allen was initially arrested on a warrant out of Hendricks County for possession of methamphetamine. He also faces additional charges out of Vermillion, Fountain and Parke counties.
