City Wide Clean Up on Saturday

Volunteers will hit the streets Saturday in Terre Haute for a city wide clean up.

The city has a clean up like this each spring and fall.

Volunteers get a route map, gloves and trash bags.

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett says this is the biggest clean up of the year.

“The fall one is always the one we try to do, to get as much stuff off the ground as we can before winter comes because it’s very visible. So, it’s always our biggest clean up after a summer of activity all over town,” says Mayor Bennett.

Volunteers should meet at 8 A.M. in the rear parking lot of the Terre Haute Police Department at 1211 Wabash Avenue.

TREES Inc. will also Keep Terre Haute Beautiful by focusing on the Ryves neighborhood.

Volunteers for that part of the clean up should meet at 8:30 A.M. at the Overhead Door Company, located at 533 North 15th Street.

There will also be dumpsters in targeted areas where people can dispose of trash.

Hazardous waste, including but not limited to refrigeration units, chemicals, tires and batteries, will not be taken.

Dumpsters will be available at the following locations:

Maple Ave Park – 500 Maple Avenue
Herz-Rose Park – 1515 Locust
Boys & Girls Club – 924 N. 13th
The Meadows Shopping Center – 300 S. 25th
Terre Haute City Hall – 17 Harding Avenue
Terre Haute Police Department – 105 S. 13th
Farrington Grove – 1304 S. 6th
