City council transfers funds for community work projects

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tonight the Terre Haute City Council met briefly to transfer funds from one city project to another.

It’s common for city departments to make these requests at the end of the year after they learn how the annual budget played out.

Some of those projects included $40 thousand from the Cumulative Capital Improvement to go toward tree maintenance.

Council president Martha Crossen said that’s to remove trees that are diseased and could be a danger to the public.

Another fund was moved from fire prevention to help out in dues, public relations and to purchase equipment.

“These are all allocations that we’ve dealt with. One way or another in our normal budgeting process, but when it comes time to actually. Sometime funds have to be moved from fund to another and so what happens at the end of the year. We get a lot of those requests,” Crossen said.
