TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Everyone is a winner after this year’s Wabash Valley Rubber Duck Regatta.
The event, which is a fundraiser for Terre Haute Catholic Charities, involved releasing 15,000 rubber ducks into the Wabash River on July 4.
The duck that won the race belonged to Ice Rigging of Terre Haute and won $10,000.
The business’s owner Andy Curry donated $9,000 of it back to Catholic Charities.
“It’s very important to keep your community going. Without your community, you don’t have your workers and you don’t have the business that you have,” says Curry.
The event faced some unique challenges this year due to the coronavirus, but Catholic Charities is grateful to the community for helping make the regatta a success.
