Washington, IN - A local ambulance service that has served the community for decades is looking forward to more years to come.
Southwest Medical Services in Daviess County is celebrating 34 years in the community.
Wayne and Joan Schuetz started it back in 1984 and over the years, they've brought in new equipment, a new ambulance, new medics and EMT's.
Wayne continues helping out too and is one of the oldest certified paramedics in the state.
"I just want to thank the people of Daviess County for letting me continue to provide service for all these years," he says.
Dia Serach, the new Director of Operations, adds, "we just want the community to know that we're here for them and don't hesitate to ask us, the nursing homes, call us for transportation needs. We're here for the hospitals. We assist the fire department. We are truly community-oriented and based."
Southwest Medical Services is a private company and is contracted by Daviess County as its only ambulance service.
