Indiana celebrated its bicentennial last year, now one Sullivan County town is celebrating its bicentennial.
The town of Merom is constructing a 45 foot-long and 15 foot-high wall commemorating the 200 year history of the historic town. Painters from Indianapolis will paint a mural, highlighting some of the town’s rich history. The project cost $25,000.
The town has received plenty of help from local iron workers, as well as monetary donors, looking to improve and celebrate the small town.
“Monetary donations have come in from people who have been away from Merom for over 40 years,” says Bob Tommey of the Merom Improvement Association.
The project is hoping to be finished or in the painting process by the festival in June.
