TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In a 4-0 vote, the Terre Haute Board of Zoning Appeals on Thursday morning approved a height variance for a hotel planned for the city’s east side as part of Churchill Downs’ casino development there.

The board approved a 25-foot variance, which would allow the hotel to be 150 feet tall.

The approval comes with conditions that include approval of the Federal Aviation Administration and that requirements of the Terre Haute Regional Airport must be met.

The casino development, called Queen of Terre Haute, is planned for land on East Margaret Drive.
