A local teen is getting world wide attention from a pure act of holiday spirit.
16-year-old Abby Meehan used her pay check to buy presents for a local family on Christmas Eve.
While she was working, Cory Swetland of Terre Haute and her son, Jacob, were buying groceries.
Meehan says she acted in good faith, that the idea just came to her.
She only wanted the family to have a good Christmas.
“I didn’t want people to hear about my story, just because of the publicity and everything, it’s not what I had intended,” says Meehan. “That was about me and Jacob having a connection and I was going to do something for Jacob. Any age, any gender, anything if you want to do something nice then you can do something nice. There’s no one saying you can’t.”
Meehan has since been featured on in stories on ABC news and Good Morning America.
