Casey police recover nearly $10k in counterfeit bills

News

CASEY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Nearly $10,000 in counterfeit bills is now in the possession of the Casey Police Department instead of in circulation throughout the community.

According to the department, the counterfeit $100 bills were discovered Wednesday on the roadway on East Washington.

The bills have a small set of Chinese letters in red on the backside.

In a Facebook post, the department urged all businesses to check all large currency as more of the fake bills could still be in the area.
