Butterflies Swarm the World

Don’t be surprised if you see a lot of butterflies in unexpected places.

It’s all part of a worldwide art project called “Swarm the World”.

Manhattan artist Tasha Lewis created thousands of magnetic butterflies and sent them to places all over the world, including Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods.

Candace Minster, a collaborator with the project, joined the Sisters of Providence as they put the butterflies on the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin statue.

Minster says it’s a great form of art that the public can take part in.

“It was a really beautiful experience to see the Sisters get so involved and get so excited about the project, and to see them putting the butterflies around Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, who’s been the rock of their foundation,” says Minster.

The butterflies are being placed around the world on all seven continents.
