It’s a time of uncertainty for federal workers who aren’t being paid due to the partial government shutdown.
Several businesses and officials are stepping up to help.
Chick-fil-A in Terre Haute is offering a free chicken sandwich or chicken nuggets to workers of the federal prison in Terre Haute.
The owner of the restaurant says it’s just their way of saying ‘thank you’ to the federal employees.
“The peopel that this really impacts, it’s our guests, it’s our community, it’s the friends that we see everyday, so this is just one way that we can do what we can to help out a little bit,” says Evan Williamson.
Meanwhile, Fazoli’s is offering free pizza baked spaghetti to federal workers now through January 20. They just need to show a valid government employee ID.
The Brazil city mayor says any federal worker not getting paid because of the shutdown won’t have to pay late fees if they don’t make their city utility bill on time.
