Burn ban in Vigo County goes into effect until Oct. 2

VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Vigo County Commissioners enacted a county burn ban due to dry weather conditions until Oct. 2.

The ban probhibits campfire and recreational fire use unless fires are enclosed in a fire ring 23 inches in diameter and 10 inches tall.

The burning of debris is also prohibited. This includes items such as timber, vegetation and construction debris. Open burning with use of fuel is prohibited such as wood or other combustible matter.

The use of charcoal grills is allowed, however the coals must be completely extinguished after cooking.
