On Wednesday, local law enforcement did a little bit of shooting practice. Not with any weapons, but rather with basketballs during the 2nd annual Brown Versus Blue basketball game.
It’s a fundraiser for Chances and Services for Youth.
In 2015, Vigo County Deputy Derek Fell teamed with THPD Chief John Plasse to come up with the idea as their fundraiser for Dancing with the Terre Haute Stars, which both participated in.
The event raised $2,200 and all the fun and success has turned it into an annual game.
This is a great opportunity to continue raising money for a good organization, but it’s also a chance for both agencies to have a little fun with each other.
“CASY is a really good cause. It helps the kids in our community, in our local areas,” Deputy Fell said.
“They’re show poines. They’re a lot of show poines. I would consider myself kind of like a clydesdale, a work horse. I’m more of a work horse guy. Not a show pony. You’ll see that at the game,” Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Hopper joked.
The goal was to raise more than last year and the second annual event did just that, raising $2,517 for CASY!
THPD won, 50-44.
