Bridgeport, Ill., man pronounced dead after being hit by vehicle

A Bridgeport, Ill., man whom state police said was lying in the road near Lawrencville, Ill., Friday night was pronounced dead after being struck by a driver.

According to an Illinois State Police news release, Robert Reeves, 42, Bridgeport, was lying down in the westbound lane of traffic of 700 North near the intersection of Billet Lane in Lawrenceville, Ill. Around 9 p.m. Friday, a passing driver stopped to assist Reeves as another driver approched, striking him. The ISP news release said Reeves was wearing dark clothing.

Illinois State Police said no charges have been filed at this time.
