BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A veteran memorial site in Brazil has been delayed for years.
Post commander with the VFW 1127 says weather made an impact on the ability to lay engraved bricks at the memorial at Craig Park.
But he tells us the project will soon see a completion.
It’s been several years since the start of fundraising and since some people bought their bricks for the memorial.
“All I can say is, we got it going, it took a long time but their money is safe, bricks are safe, we have all the bricks in order and we will be doing another order of bricks as soon as our brick layer gets back to me and starts on his portion of the project,” VFW 1127 post commander Bob Bigley said.
Post commander tells us over $20,000 will go into just the concrete portion of the project and there is an undetermined cost for brick laying.
“We’ve been through a lot of downfalls with this particular project over the years, over the last four or five years because of weather, contractors, it’s not what you’d consider a big job for some of our contractors, but we’re finally getting it all done.”
Post commander says the goal is to have the project done by the end of November. He’s waiting to hear the schedule for the contractor to complete the job.
