Authorities are investigating a break in at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

It happened at an outbuilding on Tuesday morning.

Prison officials say someone stole a Scag Cheetah riding mower, two new STIHL weed eaters and a STIHL leaf blower.

Officials say the thieves also tried to take a nearby Gator maintenance vehicle, after shattering a door window.

The stolen equipment is worth over $10,000.

“Taxpayer dollars paid for this equipment and we want it back, and we want those responsible to be made accountable,” said WVCF Assistant Superintendent Frank Littlejohn.

The WVCF is working with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s department at 812-268-4308.
