A discussion among a fourth grade class led to charges against a Brazil man.
Jesse L. Rogers was arrested Friday,Jan. 18 and charged with child molestation.
During a class discussion about inappropriate behavior, a student made statements indicating Rogers had acted inappropriately. When questioned by school officials, the student gave details about being touched in an inappropriate sexual manner, according to court documents.
Rogers was charged with a level 1 felony of child molesting, a level 4 felony of child molesting, a level 6 felony of performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor and a level six felony of sexual battery.
Clay County Prosecutor Emily Clark confirmed the level 1 felony would include a habitual offender enhancement.
