BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Brazil Concert Band will perform its newest concert piece, titled “On With the Show,” at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, in Forest Park; the event will go on even in the event of rain.
Included among the works scheduled to be performed is “Poet And Peasant Overture” by Franz Von Suppe and arranged by Henry Fillmore. The piece will feature a solo on alto saxophone from BCB member Diana Joslin.
Additionally, The BCB will honor composer Aaron Copland in “A Copland Tribute,” adapted for band by Clare Grundman. Songs performed will include “Fanfare For The Common Man,” which was written to celebrate the role of common people during World War II.
The band will also be honoring some famous movie music from the James Bond film franchise, including “Bond…James Bond” arranged by Stephen Bulla with “James Bond Theme”, “Goldfinger”, “Nobody Does It Better”, “Skyfall” and “Live Or Let Die”.
Artie Shaw will also be remembered for his musical legacy in “A Tribute To Artie Shaw” arranged by James Christensen with “Dancing In The Dark”, “Begin The Beguine” and “Star Dust”.
This week the concession stand will be run by Brazil Main Street. The group will serve a spaghetti dinner from the concession stand this Sunday.
