Two local businesses and several law enforcement agencies helped raise $5,000 for local charities over the weekend.

Absolute Towing and Lambert’s Towing hosted the 2018 Brawl with the Law smash derby at the Vigo County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Indiana State Police, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and the Terre Haute Police Department competed in the event.

Each agency selected a charity and donated their winnings.

The winning team, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, selected Covered with Love to receive a donation of $2,000.

Indiana State Police selected Chances and Services for Youth for a $1,500 donation. The Terre Haute Police Department selected Happiness Bag for a $1,500 donation.

Absolute Towing and Lambert’s Towing painted the cars involved to represent the three charities.

Absolute Towing also donated helmets that the officers signed and gave away to young spectators in the crowd.
