Bond set at $75k for teen accused in cab driver robbery

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Bond has been set at $75,000 for a teen shot by a cab driver he was allegedly trying to rob.

Daivionne Keith Malcomb Young, 17, of Indianapolis was charged with armed robbery, a level 3 felony, Monday after police investigated an armed robbery with shots fired.

According to court records, officers were responding to the armed robbery call when they also received a call of a gunshot victim at another location. 

The cab driver told police that when he dropped Young off at Greenwood Manor Apartments, Young pulled out a gun and demanded money.”

The cab driver pulled out his own weapon and shot Young in the shoulder. Young took off to another location where a 911 call was made to report the gunshot wound. 

Police were able to tie the two calls together, and after Young was released from the hospital, he was arrested for the armed robbery. 

He is currently being held at the Vigo County Jail pending posting of bond.
