Bellmore Fire Department offers free internet to students

BELLMORE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department in Parke Co. is offering free internet service to help students do their e-learning due to school closures.

The department made the decision after receiving numerous requests to use the department’s WiFi.

After gathering donations, the department secured a one year internet contract for the public to use in their parking lot.

Jason Games, Bellmore Fire Chief, said they wanted to provide for the community while encouraging social distancing.

“This having the internet here they’re not couped up at home. They’re still able to isolate and stay safe distances just by being parked in the parking lot but they’re able to get out and do something away from their house,” he said.

The internet service will be free for those that need it for the next year.
