Before the event: tagging and cleaning 12,000 rubber ducks

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – It’s no easy chore to wash and tag 12 thousand rubber ducks, but its a part of a newly started annual tradition for the Catholic Charities.

One of those 12 thousand ducks could make you a big winner.

Tonight volunteers helped sort the ducks at Ivy Tech College. Officials say 8,500 ducks have already been adopted so there are still many available.

Ducks will be dropped into the Wabash River on July 4th for a big race. If your duck wins, you could get 10 thousand dollars and a chance to win one million.

If you want to check it out July 4th head to Fairbanks Park at noon there could still be some ducks available.

You can also purchase them before hand at Catholic Chairities office at 18th and Poplar Streets in Terre Haute or go to
