VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley Bee Club and Clay Beekeepers Club created a buzz at the Terre Haute Regional Airport Saturday with their ‘bee school’.
The event provided basic beekeeping techniques, including hive management and pest control.
Beekeeping students also learned the importance of bees and their relationship to the environment.
One instructor at the school says although it’s believed that bees are only out to sting you, but that is not the case.
“They’re not interested in stinging anybody for any other reason than just to protect their own colony,” said beekeeper, Andy Lohrman.
Beekeeping students were able to leave with a one-year membership to a bee club after the class.
