Beat Bob, Then Beat the Odds

A local middle school learned an important lesson on Monday from a man who is known as the One Man Volleyball Team.

Bob Holmes visited North East Middle School in Shelburn.

He played a girls team, a boys team and a faculty team all by himself.

The goal for the teams is to “beat Bob”, but he hopes they walk away with more than just a win on the court.

He wants them to beat the odds and stay away from drugs, alcohol, bullying and suicide.

“After playing me, they realize I’m playing all these games for the sake of getting a message to them, so they really listen to it,” says Holmes.

Holmes has been recognized by Ripley’s Believe It or Not, for playing 19,000 games, more than any person in the world.
