A traffic stop for a violation ended up in the arrest of a Batesville man for numerous drug charges.
At 8:27 PM on Sunday, Trooper Andrew Beaver was patrolling US 50 near Loogootee when he observed a vehicle going in excess of the 55 mph speed limit. As Trooper Beaver began his traffic stop and spoke with 18 year old Thor A. King of Batesville, he could smell the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While speaking with King, Beaver asked Martin County Deputy Tyler Reed and his K9 partner Virka to assist him with the stop.
During the investigation, officers located 78 packaged baggies, each containing one gram of marijuana, in a large glass container.
Officers also located a large digital scale, a receipt book, and a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana.
King was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Martin County Jail.
King was charged with Dealing in Marijuana over 30 Grams, a Level 6 Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony, Possession of Marijuana Over 30 Grams, a Level 6 Felony, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor.
