TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A tradition stemming back to 2007 made its return on Saturday.

Bark at the Park is a family-friendly event to raise funds for the Terre Haute Humane Society. This included many different things the dogs could do including obstacle courses, agility tests, and bubble time with Foam Homies.

Everyone that registered got a free lunch and t-shirt. There were also additional food and drink vendors on site that were available for purchase.

Maggie Wheeler is the volunteer coordinator for the Terre Haute Humane Society, and she explains the benefits of an event like this.

“It’s accessible to the whole community. Families can come out with their pets. Everybody wants something that is kind of interactive with their dogs,” said Wheeler.

Wheeler also wanted to add how much she appreciates the support of all the volunteers at this event.

“Events like these wouldn’t be possible without all of the help from the people behind the scenes. Those are the people that help out more than they know for these types of organizations,” added Wheeler.
