Backpacks filled with food for local students in need

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – For too many children, school breakfast and lunch are the only meals they receive in a day. That poses a problem in the summer.

However, the community recently helped our station and local businesses try to fill that void through the Pack it Back for Summer food drive.

Backpacks were filled Thursday with all the food that was collected.

Those backpacks will then be distributed to the Vigo County School Corporation for students in need.

The effort is a partnership with several local businesses, including Toyota of Terre Haute.

“All of us have had kids going through the school corporation here, so we’ve all seen people of different abilities and different family situations. It’s good to be able to help people that need the help when they need it,” says Scott Jaeger, President of Toyota of Terre Haute and Thompson’s Honda.

We want to say “thank you” to everyone who donated to this food drive. With your help, we were able to fill 250 backpacks.
