You can join the city of Terre Haute in honoring local businesses as part of National Small Business Week.
The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce held a ceremony to honor local businesses Monday.
Mayor Duke Bennett read a proclamation to recognize these businesses and how they support our community. Bennett says that these businesses are the backbone of Terre Haute and it’s important to get out and explore all they have to offer.
“I find things today, that I may have drove by it and really didn’t know what they did never had the opportunity to shop there and really try to get out and knock on a few doors see what’s going on and stop by a small business and be as supportive as you can,” says Mayor Duke Bennett.
We spoke to some local small business owners and they say,
it really raises awareness, and brings more people to drop by their businesses.
“If you look around Terre Haute, small businesses are growing everywhere especially the downtown area you see how booming the downtown has become so really when you look at all the new construction and new businesses a lot of them are small businesses and a lot of people are understanding the value small businesses can provide a community,” says Brandon Halleck Owner of Dance Studio of Terre Haute.
The Chamber delivered a few flowers to area businesses this morning. If you would like to pick up a free “Flower of Appreciation” and give it to a small business, they will be available at the Chamber of Commerce Office through May 1st to May 7th.
