GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says it has received several complaints recently about someone pointing lasers at pilots flying over the county.
The complaints came in this month and also back in March from the Federal Aviation Administration in Terre Haute. Anyone with information about who is responsible is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office says pointing lasers at pilots can not only damage the pilot’s eyes, but also cause them to lose control of the aircraft.
The sheriff’s office also says it’s a federal crime that can result in a $250,000 fine and up to five years in prison.
