The Griffin family in Terre Haute have touched the hearts of many with their story including Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
The couple who lost their son Dale Griffin in Afghanistan years ago are cordially invited to attend the presidential inauguration next week.
Gene and Dona thank their relationship to former Indiana governor Mike Pence for that invitation. Pence attended the family’s grand opening of Griffin Bike park this past summer.
“It culminated in this, an invitation to the presidential inauguration and we are very excited about it,” Dona Griffin said.
“When the invitation came in, we had hopes many many weeks ago that we might get an invitation, but it was one of those distant type of hopes,” Gene Griffin said.
Aside from the inauguration, the Griffins will attend a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery, an inaugural ball and a special service at the National Cathedral.
