TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It was a morning filled with Christmas cheer for nearly 1,000 local children Saturday morning during the Clothe-A-Child Drive.
This is the 85th year for the event, which is put on by the Noon Optimist Club. Approximately 900 children met at the Walmart on Terre Haute’s south side to receive clothing items, including a new coat, hoodie, shirts, pants, and socks.
The children ranged from kindergartners to fifth graders. Several local organizations participated in the event, including local fraternities and sororities.
Organizers say the event provides essential clothing to children in need; items many other children take for granted.
