TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tonight the festivities started for the annual St. Benedict’s community festival.
The weather tonight, no doubt amplified the activities in down town Terre Haute.
Festival food, live entertainment, a beer garden, kids games and poker were all offered to the public.
The annual festival collects money for St. Ben’s church on south 9th near Ohio Street.
“It’s one of the few times the campus is open here, so people can come, we have the church open for church tours. We use this as our major fundraiser, we fund a soup kitchen here that feeds a little over 3,000 people each month, so we’re just kind of bringing the community in to show them what we do,” Brian Kiefer, organizer of the event said.
The festival is open again Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight. Admission is five dollars.
