Annual bike event honors Buffalo Soldiers

TERRE HAUTE, Ind., (WTWO/WAWV)– Griffin Bike Park celebrated Black History Month with their annual Buffalo Soldiers Ride.

The bike ride paid homage to the African American soldiers who served in the military after the American Civil War.

Rich Moore, Park Manager at Griffin Bike Park, said the event allows people to honor those that have served and are currently serving in the armed forces.

“It’s nice to honor those that have served before. You know the park is built in honor of fallen soldiers. So it was just a natural fit,” said Moore.

The buffalo soldiers were known to ride their bikes while serving in the war.
