Animal Hoarding Investigation

News

The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of animal hoarding at the Troll Keep Kitty Haven in Dana.

People who adopted pets there called police with their concerns, saying the animals experienced severe health issues.

Deputies responded to the location and say they found an extreme hoarding situation in two modular homes.

Deputies say there were 56 cats, 10 dogs and 26 birds living in poor conditions.

A health inspector also determined the homes were unfit for human habitation.

Police are looking for the rescue’s owners, identified as Bonnie Hanning, Shannon Childress and Lorene Childress.

Anyone who adopted pets from them is asked to call the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office at (765) 492-3838 or online.

The Parke-Vermillion Humane Society also needs help caring for all of the animals they took in.

Officials there are asking for any help citizens can provide, including monetary donations.

You can call the Humane Society at (765) 492-3540.
