It was a magical Saturday for kiddos in the Valley.

This after the American Legion Riders Post 104 hosted a ‘Magic of Reading’ magic show.

The event took place at the Vigo County Public Library where kids were greeted at the door with a free book and snacks before the magic show.

This is the first ‘Magic of Reading’ event put on by the Legion, in an effort to increase childhood literacy in our community.

“Reading is the thing that’s kind of magical. Because when you read a book it can take you to various places. You can travel back in time, travel into the future. You can fantasize through reading and it opens so many doors,” said Legion Director Norris Keirn.

The Legion hopes to put on the event again next winter to help kids stay busy during their break.
