All drivers should stay vigilant as the holiday weekend approaches

News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As we come up on Memorial Day weekend motorcyclists on the roadway may come up on you.

Tomorrow Hoosiers will begin to see an influx of motorists due to the holiday weekend.
Distracted drivers are one of the biggest worries when it comes to motorcycle safety.
Drivers are advised to treat the cyclists as other cars and give them space.

Safety specialist for Thompson Motor Sports, Jesse May, said “I like to tell them to be as hyper defensive as you possibly can. You know, you have to treat it like everyone else out on the road is almost trying to get you.”

Remember that your phone can be your biggest distraction, and might cause you to not even see the motorcyclist that’s right beside you.

And motorcyclists stay vigilent in seeking those distracted drivers.
