Act of Kindness

News

It was a day like any other for Fulgncio ‘Fugi’ Ragudo. Until, he left work at MCL Restaurant and Bakery, and found his bicycle had been stolen. The bike was the 70 year old’s main transportation.

Co-worker Maddie Funk decided to step up. “Here at MCL we are more than just coworkers we are family and when someone gets hurt we all become affected in some way or another so I needed to help out to the best of my ability,” said Funk.

After her shift, 19 year old Funk took her own money and went to Walmart to buy a new bike. She presented it to Ragudo the next day.

“Well she brought in the bike with a big bow on it and she was looking at me and I looked at Maddie and I said ‘Is this for me?’ And she yes, this is for you and I was like so touched,” said Ragudo.

MCL Manager Joe Opremchak was impressed by the act of kindness. “It was such a good hearted thing to do. And to see how somebody, especially somebody so young could be so giving”

If given another chance to help a fellow employee, Funk says she wouldn’t hesitate. “If I had to do this again I would definitely do this in a heartbeat.”
