Today, the Indiana Department of Education released accountability grades. In Vigo County, all three high schools received a “B”. Fayette and Riley Elementary Schools were the only ones in the county to earn an “A”. Of the 28 schools in the county, a majority earned a “C” or better.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz released the following statement. “This year, Indiana implemented a new student-centered school accountability system utilizing Indiana’s new, more rigorous standards and assessments for the first time. For those reasons, the 2015-16 school year establishes a new baseline for school accountability grades in Indiana.”
