Downtown Terre Haute will soon get a pop of color.
Last Monday, Becky Hochhalter started work on this mural.
It’s located, on the first level of the parking garage on Wabash Avenue.
The 60 feet by 6 feet music mural will have touches of Terre Haute.
It includes, sycamore leaves, Terre haute crows and musical notes.
Plus, the lyrics of “On The Banks Of The Wabash” and a song from Terre Haute Native Paul Dresser will be depicted.
The artwork compliments the recently dedicated brick piano in the courtyard.
And it was a community effort helped fund the project.
“So, I think people are really excited to see public artwork in Terre Haute and public artwork increases the perceive value of a community,” Becky Hochhalter said. “They think if you are willing to invest in public artwork then you must be pretty vested in your community. So, I think it’s a very positive thing.”
Hochhalter says, she hopes to have the mural completed by the end of next week weather permitting.
