A Serious Discussion About Serious Issues

Tonight, a number of people are better informed about some serious issues facing many people in the area.  A panel of speakers addressed several mental health issues, including bullying, suicide and chronic depression.

The event was sponsored by the Health Committee of the Greater Terre Haute NAACP.  Panelists came from the FSA Counseling Center, Team of Mercy and the Terre Haute Police Department.

A special emphasis was devoted to anti-bullying techniques, social media intervention, trauma groups for teens and suicide intervention.

“We want to help and we want to pull all the organizations together so we work as team and give a platform to the other organizations for them to help the young people in this community,” said Sylvester Edwards NAACP.

The presenters also identified the support available in our community for teens, their parents/caregivers, and educators, as well as how to find and use those services.
