Folks out at Westminster Village enjoyed a first annual tradition today.
They celebrated a Memorial Day cookout a little early. Veterans both who live at the facility and spouses of residents came by to have grilled burgers and hotdogs and listen to the Coon Hollar Kids perform.
A few veterans also gave speeches at the event and it ended with a 21 gun salute.
“We feel as though we don’t do enough as it is right now to honor our veterans so we want to do as much as we possibly can to give back to our veterans and recognize the service they’ve given us,” Jacob Elliot with Westminster said.
The next big public event the Westminster Village will have is their Harvest Festival August 11 where they’ll us 9 acres of sweet corn.
