A Holiday Tree-dition

It’s never too early to start decorating for the holidays.

The Holiday Hill Christmas tree farm is equipping households with the perfect tree just in time for everyone to host their first rush of family on Thanksgiving.

“I love to get my tree before Thanksgiving, so that when everybody comes over everything’s lit up, and ‘Christmassy,'” says Terre Haute resident Whitney Padgett.

It’s Padgett’s first time to get a real tree. Something special to remember the first holiday in her new home.

“This is our first Christmas, like in our own home, so we decided to get a real tree this year,” says Padgett.

Every family, every couple, every kid has their unique taste in what makes a tree–their tree. But there’s one thing everyone can agree on. The smell being a favorite reason to go natural.

“The smell of pines going throughout the house,” says Padgett.

Amy Spitler, a Terre Haute Resident, agrees.

“Smell. Mess. There’s more mess with these, but they smell much better,” says Spitler.

For others, it’s all about tradition.

“We’ve been coming out here since we were like seven, or so. For as long as I can remember, this is like always where we’ve come,” says Terre Haute resident Coleman Robertson.

Picking out the tree has always been an adventure for the Robertson’s.

“She would always run and chase after them. Keep finding her in the field chasing cats. Chasing each other through the trees, and hiding around them. It’s a lot of fun out here,” says Robertson.
