Often people who donate their time, talent or treasure to a charitable effort do so as a gift from the heart. And tonight, a special banquet was held to honor those who have helped a local charity.
The Gifts from the Heart banquet was held on the I.S.U. campus. The event celebrated the work of the 14th and Chestnut charity. Tonight’s event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization and it included a silent auction.
The organization is instrumental in helping many children in the area.
“All children need a champion in their life and sometime the kids from the neighborhood don’t have that, said Bill Felts, executive director. And so we try to step in and go instead and be there to help them do well in school.”
Tonight’s fundraising effort will help put a new roof on a food pantry. The organization also provides food and clothing for children. 14th and Chestnut volunteers help many people meet a variety of spiritual, physical, and educational needs.
