Rose-Hulman is a million dollars richer thanks to a generous donation.
A 1.1 million dollar gift was donated by Rose-Hulman alum Richard Conn.
And given to the department of computer science and software engineering.
The donation will go toward increasing the diversity of the student body and faculty and expanding the computer science curriculum.
And the need for graduates with computer science degrees is greatly increasing.
“There are more job openings each year then there are computer science and software engineers nearing graduation each year,” J. P. Mellor said. “So each year it’s getting worse the unfilled jobs. So if we broaden the participation in these tech fields, that’s more people to fill them.”
The computer science and software engineering major is currently the 2nd largest major at Rose-Hulman.
