TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local effort to make sure children in need have new footwear received a boost on Tuesday.

100+ Women Who Care of Vigo County donated $9,000 to the Shoe Bus Project.

It’s an effort by the Terre Haute Women’s Club that provides shoes and socks to Vigo County school children in need.

Money for the project usually comes from an event called an Evening of Art and Wine, but the club was unable to hold that fundraiser this year.

“This has been a real struggle for us to come up with our fundraising efforts and we’ve had smaller events that have been helpful, but this check is just amazing help for us,” says Heather Wolf, Vice President of the club.

The check amount also included a $5,000 anonymous donation from a local family.
